Review: DiorShow Mascara & Drugstore Dupe

I got the Christian DiorShow mascara a couple of weeks ago at Sephora, I was immediately drawn to the large brush. Below, I have a mini review on this mascara and also a possible drugstore dupe. Please keep reading and do not forget to share your thoughts or questions. Thank you.

Pros:

-large bristles provide a good amount of volume

-comes in a large tube, more product

-formula gives great length

Cons:

-$24, expensive

-formula is drying after 3 weeks of purchase

-does not hold eye lash curl

If you are interested in trying this mascara for yourself, you should checkout Revlon Grow Luscious. You can find it at drugstores for $8 (price may vary) . The size of the brushes are slightly the same, and formula gives my eye lashes the same length & volume.

Picture Book!

One of my favorite things to do is to take pictures. Pictures capture memories and pictures can tell a story. Hence, a picture book is a great way to tell your story. A couple of weeks a go, I was uploading pictures onto iPhoto on my MacBook Pro and I decided to try out some of the cool features. I created a photo book, for fun. At first, I was not sure if I was going to get the book published but I had a great time making it. It took some dedicated time and effort to organize and chose the right pictures. After, all my hard work and seeing the book in the form of a slide show, I proceed with the order. A week later, I got my book in the mail and I fell in love with final result. I think this would make a great gift for a friend or a family member. It makes for a great coffee table book. If you don't have an MacBook, there are other websites that offer the same features & product.

Review & Swatch: MAC Earthly Harmony Nail Lacquer

This color, is from MAC's Fall/ Winter collection with Jin Soi. All the colors are beautiful, and in the website's swatches they all appear to have specs of glitter. Earthly Harmony is described as a frost, muted taupe with shimmer. In person, the color is more greyish taupe and the shimmers are only noticeable in direct sunlight. It also is not much of a frost, but rather a cream color. As for the formula, I really am impressed. I have always heard negative comments about their formula. I am not sure if it has changed but it's a great consistency and creamy. I also, think it dries fast which is a good thing. I hate nail polishes that take forever to dry. I have to say I am in love with color and it will probably be my every day fall color. Don't be fooled by the swatch on the site, you can't see the glitter. That being said, I do recommend this nail polish if you are looking for a great grey or taupe nail polish.

Perfect Pink Nails

I love this nail polish color by Essie Van Dgo, it's the perfect pink. It's a great pop of color for this new fall weather. I think it's great to wear on a night out & also subtle enough for school or work. Do you agree? What's your favorite Essie nail polish?

Nails of The Week

Hi everyone,

One thing, you probably do not know about me yet is that I have a mini obsession with painting my nails. I have a huge nail polish collection & it grows every month. I love all colors, finishes, & glitters. I love painting my own nails. I created this look this past weekend. It's really easy to do, it reminds of Easter eggs. Anyway, I think I am going to do a feature here and call it Nails of The Week. If you have any suggestions for a creative and cool name for this theme, let me know.

Gracias,
Rosie

How To: Kim Kardashian Smokey Eye & Bright Lip

Hello,

I did this tutorial on my YouTube channel, I posted pictures here because the quality of my web cam is not the best. Anyway, this is a Kim Kardashian inspired soft smokey eye with a bright lip. Now normally, I am against pairing up a dramatic dark eye with a bold lip but in this case the look is totally wearable. Let me know in the comment section, what your favorite celebrity makeup looks are.

Split Ends Go Home

Does anyone else have the constant problem of getting split ends? I do not know what it is about me that makes split ends so attracted to my hair. I've been good to my hair for about a year and a half now. I refrained from dying my hair, using heat on it on daily basis, and I've limited my use of hair products. I did all this in the hopes that my hair could grow longer and healthier. Unfortunately, I've had no luck and I am tossing the idea around of getting extensions. In the meantime, I began taking fish pills, and instead of going to a salon for a bi-monthly trim, I am cutting my own split ends. I know that sounds crazy and desperate but it's not as difficult as it may sound but it is time consuming. I remember two years ago my hair stylist told me how to do it. So I decided to share this easy How-To: Trim Your Split Ends tutorial with you, if you are prone to split ends like me. First you need sharp scissors, and make sure it's a pair that you will use to cut hair only. If the scissors are dull, they can actually cause you to get more split ends. Trust me I learned this the hard way. Second, keep in mind this method of trimming your split ends is most effective if you do it on a weekly basis, may be even try it every other day. I do not recommend you wait a month or two because by then your split ends maybe one-two inches long. I usually trim my ends, when I am watching t.v or reading a book. Anyway, the next thing you want to do depending on the thickness of your hair is section off your hair about one fourth an inch or half an inch wide and then you are going twist it to its ends. You will see all the split ends sticking out, you can go ahead and cut them. Once you are done with that, the last step is to ttwist the strand in the opposite direction to get the ones you missed. I recommend you do this if you are trying to grow out your hair like me, but eventually you will have to make a trip to salon just not as often now. If you want to see a video tutorial on this, leave me a comment and I will make a video on my channel.

Introduction & More...

Hello,

This is my first blog post, and I am excited to start blogging. I love writing and sharing my ideas and thoughts with others. I think we have the ability to express ourselves beautifully through writing, and we should do it more often. Okay, so today I want to do a proper introduction and briefly explain why I decided to start my own YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/rosiealvarado. I was not aware of the huge beauty and fashion community on youtube until last year in August. I was looking for hair tutorials because my brother was getting married. I stumbled across a couple of famous YouTubers and I instantly got hooked. Honestly, I was amazed by how much I was learning from girls across the world that were just like me. I contemplated the idea of starting my own channel for the months that followed, but I was scared and afraid to hear what others would think or say. Early this year, a lot of things began to change in my life and I was faced with my fears. One of them being that my beloved young dog Zoey passed away, and dealing with her death was the hardest challenge I have been faced with. I am going to do a separate post on dealing with the loss of a pet in the near future. Although, this experience was difficult to endure her death did remind me that life can be cut short and no one can guarantee how much time you have to live. Her life inspired me to follow my heart and take a risk. So here I am today writing this blog post, about my YouTube channel.

-Rosie

Thank you, Zoey. You are loved.
